Supporting Women

In ongoing honor of Breast Cancer Awareness, a percentage of all of our profits will be donated to Breast Cancer Research.

In May of 2017, my mother was diagnosed with breast cancer. She is a vibrant, active, dynamic woman – a true inspiration to me and others who know her. Luckily, the cancer was detected early and she underwent successful treatment. As is the case with many other families, she is not the only woman in our family to be affected by this disease. My grandmother, as well as my mother’s two sisters, my aunts, were also diagnosed during their lifetime. While my mother, grandmother and one aunt were able to treat the disease early, we sadly lost my Aunt Nancy to breast cancer in 1985.

Through our family’s experience, my mother and I have felt compelled to bring awareness to breast cancer research and to support the medical community’s dedication to early detection and screening for women.

The numbers are shocking: there are 126 new cases of female breast cancer per 100,000 women per year and approximately 12.4 percent of women will be diagnosed with breast cancer at some point during their lifetime (Based on data from 2013-2015. Source: seer.cancer.gov).

Graymoor Lane Designs is deeply committed to the health and well-being of women. That is why, beginning in October 2018, a percentage of all of our collections will be donated to the NorthShore Kellogg Cancer Center. The Kellogg Cancer Center is focused on the growing field of immunotherapy and clinical trials, especially with respect to early genetic testing. When Graymoor Lane Designs decided to expand its philanthropic reach, we knew we had to support a cause very close to our family’s history.

Many of us now have our own personal connection to breast cancer either through friends or family. Please join us as we work to support early genetic testing of breast cancer with the NorthShore Kellogg Cancer Center throughout the month of October and beyond. Live by your passion; live by your style, and walk with us, together, on Graymoor Lane.
